Google Business Profile or a Website? Why Local Businesses Need Both
Your Google Business Profile gets you found on Maps; your website is where people decide to buy. Here’s how the two work together.
"Do I need a website if I have a Google Business Profile?" It's one of the most common questions we hear. The short answer: yes — they do different jobs.
What your Google profile does
Your Business Profile is how you show up on Google Maps and in "near me" searches. It's where people tap to call you, get directions or see your hours. Industry benchmarks put the average profile at dozens of actions a month — calls, direction requests and website clicks.
What your website does
Your profile tells people you exist. Your website convinces them to choose you: your full services and prices, photos of real work, reviews, and a way to book, order or request a quote right now. A profile with no website, or a weak one, sends that decision to a competitor.
Make them work together
- Use the same name, address and phone number on both.
- Link your profile to your website — ideally to the page that matters most (booking, menu, quote).
- Add plenty of real photos to your profile; profiles with more photos tend to get more calls and clicks.
- Put your reviews on your website too, so people see them at the moment they decide.
